mcerbm
I have read in a few places the k-series in the R500 has a flywheel which is 3.2kg, this is a development of the original superlight R VHPD flywheel I believe? Does anyone know what the weight of the original flywheel on a VHPD k-series is?
revilla
I asked Mankee Cheng for you (because he seems to know about that kind of thing) and he said: I had an apparently R500 lightweight flywheel, but it weighed 3.7 kgs and was of an early type of design. I believe this would be the VHPD flywheel you're asking about, and also fitted to Superlights. It's a lightweight flywheel but not the ultralight sort, which are in the 3-3.3 kgs range. nickh7
I had one of the first lightweight flywheels fitted in 97 , I knew a few people there at the time and they asked me to try it out as it was a development item . Not sure what it weighs but on my 1600k SS it gives a very lumpy tickover but boy does it gain and shed revs quickly

Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted November 12, 2017 Leadership Team Share Posted November 12, 2017 That’s the pre-R500 flywheel as fitted to 1600/1800K’s, VHPD etc. Should be 3.7kg ish.
nickh7
Mine is a little more machined than that but as it was a trial one I am guessing it’s a similar weight . Still better than the standard one.
