Area Representative Richard Price Posted October 28, 2017 Area Representative Share Posted October 28, 2017 I use broad blade like a wall paper scraper, after I've removed as much sealant as I can with a craft knife.I knock the scraper in at a few points before try and actually part the rims.I've seen a few that have been split using a screw driver, but these have all needed to be dressed before the could be reused.I normally use silicone dissolved to all remains of sealant. Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted October 29, 2017 Leadership Team Share Posted October 29, 2017 Finlay, if you're referring to SLR 46 and you have the same wheels fitted as in the picture you've sent us for inclusion in the Caterham Register ... they're not MB wheels! You have the original fitment KN Superlight R wheels and although you can remove the black 5 spoke center, the inner and outer rims are welded together with the join covered in sealant to ensure there's a seal.Stu. finmac
Hi Stu, it is indeed SLR #46. I got a spare set of Barnbys with the car and going to get them refurbished for road use instead of the K&Ns!Thanks Jonathan, the paint scraper idea worked a treat.
