Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted October 26, 2017 Area Representative Share Posted October 26, 2017 They were very puzzling. No headlamps, slow or no windscreen wipers, full beam indicator ON, and full deflection on temp gauge (only - other gauges were OK) if most switches (lamps, wipers, fan, heated screen but not washers) operated - irrespective of the dip switch position. Headlamp flash worked (so not a faulty lamp and relays OK).Clearly a short somewhere but inspection under the dash showed everything in place. Nothing loose. Careful examination showed no damaged cable. No contacts were displaced from the back of the fuse board.Fault persisted until all electrics disconnected. Reappeared when provoked.Every switch taken out, examined and reconnected. (a tiresome process)-Lots of judicious feeling about found the problem in the end. We reseated the speedo illumination lamp and all was well. Several hours of looking in obvious places wasted! (well, elimination of possibilities is constructive in its way, even if it doesn't feel like a step forward).
SM25T
Sounds like cable to temperature sender may be crushed, chafed or melted through ? Or sender has gone down to ground.
