Duratec engine cover bolts

I wouldn't bother getting an OE fastener. They are a very ordinary posidrive buttonhead. I already had some when mine went awol.

There's a reason they aren't anything more than a simple screw. If you over tighten you'll crack the cover. Best to just nip up after applying a dot of threadlocker (Loctite 243 or similar).  If you don't lock the thread they'll come undone again.

Another thing is that the cam cover is known for cracking so worth checking for oil in there when you have the coil cover off. If (when?) it does crack, it's about £100 for a new one with gasket or you can locate the crack and repair with a bit of epoxy. IME that's a better solution because it seems they crack once then are OK. (So far!)

I remove the coil cover every few months to check the cam cover is OK and in between keep an eye out for oil on the back of the engine - that's where it ends up if the cam cover cracks. Again IME.
