Jumpin Jack Flash Posted September 9, 2017 Share Posted September 9, 2017 Hi everyone,After a lot of thought, I decided to put 2 fog lights on the back panel of my 2004 K Series. BTW, I like the eighties - early nineties style with 2 fog lights and like that, the rear end will be symmetrical.Since there are no holes in the rear panel, I need to know the exact position used on factory build cars. Would someone be so kind to measure the distance between the fog and reverse light and the distance between the lower tube and the underside of the fog and reverse light.Measurements please on a car without spare wheel.ThxJJF Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Drumster Posted September 10, 2017 Share Posted September 10, 2017 JJF,When I rebuilt my 7 in 2007/08 I had Bruce at Arch weld the old style brackets onto the chassis under the rear skin as I much preferred the 'clean' rear panel. never had a problem with damage to either light in this position. I remember seeing them a long time ago and when I mentioned them to Bruce he knew what I meant, so maybe pre 90s? The red Superlight demonstrator had them at the end of 1996 / beginning 1997.Caterham started to mount 2 fog lights and the Wipac reverse lights on the wings from 1980 - 1981. In 1996 they changed to 1 fog light and 1 reverse light. Later these were mounted on the rubber wedges for SVA / IVA purposes.CheersJJF Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It is even worse, since there is a protection around and under the fuel tank, he has to loosen up the tank to get the bolts and wiring into place.Good idea about the clear lenses, but I am very old fashioned. TomB Posted September 11, 2017 Share Posted September 11, 2017 I can recommend rivnuts as above. It's not too difficult to damage the fog light units, and if you ever spill fuel on them they become brittle. With a nut and bolt, replacement is very tricky as you have to move the fuel tank forward, which is made even harder if you have ali honeycomb around the tank. When you got the holes drilled in the correct place, insert the rivnuts and dremel as above. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
elie boone Posted September 14, 2017 Share Posted September 14, 2017 There are easy ways to prevent you from drilling the fuel tank, it's a bit more difficult if there is about 5 mm of filler. if you use a bolt with Allen head that will fit inside the hexagon recess.
