Al Duncan
Just bought meself a wee Polo G40. Its completly bonkers, 1.3 Supercharged 😬 but to most people looks like a standard polo coupe 😬 😬 😬 😬 😬.......(bye bye gti) The trouble is, the previous owner has stuck some rather jubious tyres (Sport life) on the front and the back are looking a bit baldy. Tyre size I am told is an odd one -175/60 R13  Another owner has told me that he has put 185s on without problem. Is this a good idea or will it affect the handling? Am I better sticking with the original tyre size? if so, anybody know a good supplier cos I hate Kwik Fart and co. Cheers Al 😬
aclucas
I hear they do ACB10s in 185/60 R13  Go on - you know you want to  Alan (not being helpful) N7CTR 1.8VVC

rgrigsby
Sounds like you need some of the Bridgestones RE720 that people have been using for sprints, buffed down they have a soft compound rubber underneath that's meant to be quite good Cheers Rob G www.SpeedySeven.com
Al Duncan
Rob, How soft is soft? While loads of traction would be good I can't afford to be putting tyres on it too often- I need a good compromise between sticky and longevity. cheers al
Martin H
RE720s worked pretty well on my Primera - I used to do about 6 trackdays a year, plus about 20,000 road miles on about 2 sets a year. Quite reasonably priced as well if you shop around. Found that they worked pretty well on track.
rossybee
Al, Try your local Hi-Q dealer, mine in Dundee is rarely beaten on price. Ross very black 6spd SuperSport

ChrisC
EVO did a tire test last year, with a Goodyear as top dog, and a Conti taking second place. The test scored the tires on all the important stuff for performance road use. Can't remeber the issue Sorry. It's worth a read before you make up your mind. (don't think they tested ACB10's )   Chris.... H15 SVN Get it ! Edited by - ChrisC on 25 Feb 2003 10:57:
Dickie Normuss
I've got a slightly hotter hatch and run Pirelli P-Zero's which seem to work well, predictable too 😬 although the Goodyear Eagle F1 is supposed to have more ultimate grip and be good in the wet and dry. Use budget tyres for any car at your own risk!
