makingff
Noticed this today while out for a blat. Anyone know if this can be re-welded. It's the section with the CAT so don't really want to have to buy a new one if I can help it.Simon
Member Jonathan Kay Posted August 13, 2017 Member Share Posted August 13, 2017 Previous experiences.Where are you?JonathanPS: This sort of failure usually provokes a discussion of whether some set-ups don't have enough brackets in the right places to carry the weight, and how to solve that. Where are yours?
SM25T
No centre bracket ? I would take it to Powerspeed in Ashford and get it welded up. Can you remove it and take it in another vehicle. I would be worried about it failing and causing big trouble if you drove it. Glad I wasn't following you at speed .... oh ... hang on a minute !! anthonym
take the car with it so they can see the mountings? I now have a Powerspeed mounting underneath the petrol tank.. and a cracked seam now double welded just the other week by them. @Ian, your choice of cars to follow? ;-)
makingff
Have a local company going to weld this tomorrow. Fingers crossed...I need to look at a centre mounting to stop this happening again. Simon

SM25T
Have you found a supplier locally for plish ? I read elsewhere that extra strength Harpic brushed on and left, then rinsed off works wonders on stainless exhausts !
ScottR400D
If one wanted to fit an extra bracket to a Duratec engined car where would one get said bracket?

JNC
I think a revisit to the Lambda wire might be necessary ! It looks like it's too twisted for my liking , obviously their is viberation in this area due to the break in the collector you don't want engine problems due to a wire breaking down.
