Superwhite R283
Using used Michelin slicks, and swap wheels from side to side sometimes (as I’m sure they aren’t directional), but the fronts are wearing on the inside so tempted to swap the tyres over, but the inside face isn’t branded in the same way as the outside (not a large colourful Michelin logo) so got me thinking, is this ok? robmar
Well Avon slicks are directional so am suspecting Michelin will be too...However are you using just for track days, or for racing... If the former think you will be ok.When i used 2nd hand slicks on track days way back, i never worried too much
ScottR400D
If they are directional, swapping on the rims and running on the other side of the car should be OK. We used to do that with Avon slicks for testing, though they were logoed on both sides.
ECR
AFAIK There are 3 things that can make any tyre directional. First is the tread pattern (obviously) Second is the way the plies in the carcass are biased which will affect the handling and third the direction that the scarf joint is made on the tread rubber (the tyre should rotate in a direction that presses the joint together). Having said that, I run with used Michelin slicks and have never bothered which way they're fitted and am happy to swap side to side to maximise wear
