blueyedbiker
Any experiences or work arounds out there with running the clutch gaiter on a X Flow without the metal spring clip which is now well obsolete and virtually unobtainable? Ta.

Duckpit
Mine seems to stay in place without the spring, but you can always try Redline
Member Jonathan Kay Posted August 7, 2017 Member Share Posted August 7, 2017 Does "clutch release lever boot holding clamp V6 2,9i 107-110kW (not "MT75"-gearbox, for original boot, height =55mm)" mean "Type 9"?Jonathan

Drumster
I don't ever recall seeing one on my x/flow when I purchased it in 1999 and certainly don't have one on the Zetec, still using the same clutch gaitor and there's not been any problems in the intervening period and 70+k miles. Bricol
Not running the gaitor at all on my trials car - seems to be surviving.

OliverSedlacek
I got so fed up trying to fit the clip last time I tried to fit it I'm trying without.
blueyedbiker
May finish up doing the same myself, the boot itself (from Burton) fits reasonably well. Otherwise it'll be good old silicone.
blueyedbiker
Clip arrived OK, very tight fit in the gaiter but should do the trick. Bit of a rip at 8 quid odd delivered.
mcerbm
I have the standard gaitor but it looks quite over size for the slot size on the bellhousing. I'll try and take a photo tonight and post.During the installation of my engine I dropped a washer from the earthing cable to the bellhousing when fitting the cable and it fell into the bellhousing so I had to split the bellhousing and engine while in th engine bay to get it, complete nightmare of a job. I'm now hyper aware of doing any work in the engine bay as it may happen again, I would rather have permanent protection.
