Type 9 speedo drive connection.

I hope there is a simple solution to this. I have a right angle drive to fit in my type 9 which has a male thread at one end and a female at the other but the gearbox has a hole with no thread where the drive goes in. There is a ridge for a circlip to hold a drive in. So is there a small adaptor that Ishould have? Where could I obtain one from?

John, There should be a brass "Top Hat" which fits over the speedo drive. This top hat is held in by a circlip and the speedo sensor screws into the top hat. I would suspect that the circlip has not been fiitted correctly and the top hat has fallen out. However you do not say what year your car is, so if it is an earlier model the fixings may well be different.

Caterham will provide you with the parts but it will mean taking off the tunnel inside the car and removing the right hand side tunnel carpet to get at the access hole to fit the parts.

Good luck
