Indicator wiring - help!!

finmac

Recommended Posts

In the process of changing my headlight/indicator stays (for non rusty ones!).

So obviously the headlights and indicators need to come off.

Headlight seems obvious enough - disconect all wires pull thro - unscrew headlight, reattach same on new stay and rewire.

Indicators also need to be disconnected to pull wires thro - therein lies the problem there does not seem to be any plug or the like to disconnect them *confused* *confused*

Help please!!

Hi Lawrence

Car is a '96. Had a look at pulling them thro "the other way" but they are hard wired into the loom and there do not appear to be any plugs etc.

Given that they were obviously fitted in the first place there must be a way of getting them off again?! *confused*

cheers

My car was a bit older and originally came designed with cables outside the bracket...

I drilled the tube, cut the ends off and soldered them back on after fitting the lamps...

I think I would just cut the wires at staggered points on the loom.....

refit and solder back together and shrink wrap *smile*

Drop by and I'll do it for you...

Thanks for advice, went rummaging around the loom last night and lo and behold found some connectors *smile* (quite far back and well covered in inulating tape) - so the jobs a doddle now.

Used to live in Edinburgh, so "pop round" would have been easy - bit further now!

Out of interest do you ever take your 7 onto Knockhill?

cheers

Cant make 8th, what other dates do you have for later in the year (in some ways week days are better if any are planned)?

Is it a 7 only session or mixed? How many cars and whats the usual cost?

many thanks Finlay
