Crossflow Lucas Ignition

Westfield

Recommended Posts

Can anyone help me with the wiring on a Lucas competition constant energy ignition with a Lucas distributor?

The unit has 4 wires coming from it.

A Black and white – which appears to go to the negative on the coil

A White that appears to go to the positive side of the coil

Grey and white (two of these), which go to a block connector

The distributor has a orange and a purple wire

The ignition unit also has two spade connectors on the side.

If anyone has a diagram that would be even better!

Help!!

Tony

Black and White - Neg coil

White - Pos coil

Grey and White - Tape up, not used

Two spade connectors on side go to a blue and red in the car loom, which then goes to the distributor, which is where the orange and purple connect to. This wire was originally connected to the old system.

The ignition pack must be earthed! You also must use the coil supplied with the kit, not the original. You need a 12v feed from the ignition switch which should be attached to the + (this will almost certainly be a white wire that is already attached to the original coil) A wire should also be taken from the coil to feed the tacho (this maybe a white/black wire already attached to the original coil. Connecting this may drive the tacho, but on some looms this wire is routed through the original (now disconnected) ignition box and a new wire must be laid in direct to the tacho.

Most of the above para is a direct copy from Roger Kings notes he gave to me when I fitted my system

Have fun *wink*
