mossy7
Right.. New discs on front to replace warped ones, new bearings because rubber seal had perished and I have finally found the cause of the annoying click on the O/S wheel.... ( hub no loner fouls the calliper so it's not that) turns out the disc is picking up the brake pad and dropping it back into the calliper... Click click. And I have no idea how to stop it! Shims might just push the pad into contact with the disc permanently. That can't be good. Any ideas? PS ... standard brakes and Mintex M 1144 pads. SM25T
Are you sure the bearings are adjusted correctly. The pad remains in contact with the disc .... just knocked back by the miniscule run out in the disc. If the run out is excessive, it would constantly pat the pad back every revolution. ScottR400D
The pads lifting and dropping is not that unusual. I've had cars that do it. Not noticeable at speed normally just when going slowly. Adhesive anti squeal shims usually stop it.
mossy7
Hi Scott, thanks for that. I will give it a try. Glad to know its not just mine that does it! Andy
Toby S
Look on Rimmer Bros or Moss Europe in the Triumph spitfire front brake sections and you'll find a shim and spring kit which sorted the same problem on mine
mossy7
Hi Toby, had a look but wasn't too sure exactly which kit.... don't suppose you recall a part no?
Steve Sheldon
Ask Redline in Caterham to send you a kit - mine were cured of same problem. Do not worry about pads touching the disc..
