DRH
Hi Chaps Is there a typical tyre wear pattern from hard road use? presuming the car is set up correctly. Is the handbook spot on when it comes to alignment? Does the ride height effect tyre pattern wear. All comments would be much appreciated
Member Jonathan Kay Posted June 5, 2017 Member Share Posted June 5, 2017 Morning, Dennis. Quick brain dump: Unusual patterns of tyre wear have the same causes as on ordinary cars. But on many 7s the tyres get old before they wear out. Someone recently showed that different versions of the Assembly Guide aren't consistent on recommended alignment.I think the following may be a logical sequence: Fit the wheels and tyres you want. Set the ride height and rake. Set the front and rear alignment (from one version of the book) either by DIY or paying someone. "Flat floor"/ "Corner weight" the car. That's a step beyond alignment but seems to be highly recommended. Again either DIY or pay someone. One of the advantages of the latter is the expertise of which settings will meet your needs. Adjust to taste.JonathanPS: Do we have any modern alignment tools (which presumably involve lasers) or scales in the Register of Equipment for Loan? Or offers? Ivaan
If we're talking front tyres, I dialed out quiet a lot of the camber on mine to reduce wear on the inside edges ( now running less than 0.5 degrees ). Also 0 degrees toe in/out.But then mine's not typical being a very lightweight BEC.
dom69
Probably a silly suggestion but are they inflated to the correct pressure?
