Paint code?

I need to do a little touching up before the 60th.

Any idea what code the white is. It is from 1998?

Do you need to get it mixed or can you buy it in spray cans?

It's a really unsatisfactory area. I've never seen a definitive list of factory colours and codes, and have a look at GJT's comments.

In practice I think that most people end up matching by eye, with or without an expert.

There's a suggestion for white here.

I took it to a local paint shop and he said I should do it myself, and I thought I would just ring up Caterham for a spray can!

There looks to be a business opportunity here, if someone was to produce a colour chart for Caterhams and send the paint in spray cans, mail order.

The trouble with white is that there are probably 10 different shades.

Jonathan is correct and to be realistic, your paint will no longer look like it did in 1998 due to sunlight and general weathering  so your best option is to get it matched by a specialist company.

you should be able to find a local supplier who will supply spray cans matched to the colour of your car.

i used a company in Hayes West Lomdon, who used a hand held spectrum analyser to "measure" the colours of my ballistic orange 2004 car, mixed the paint whilst I waited and I then repaired the blistering Ali sides and resprayed a perfect colour match for about £18 a tin.
