rockinroyston
Not exactly a technical enquiry & I'm not about to go on antiques road show...Hopefully I'm going to be picking my 310 up next week now that the IV's done & I have my plate documents... however for some reason I need to get a insurance valuation for Footman James.. seems a bit strange as you can see what the price is on the Caterham website & I have my list of 'extras' clearly identified on the cost sheet of doom that I filled in when I bought the car. does the lotus 7 club offer a valuation service??? & who do I contact... From: Roy Morley [mailto:rockinroyston@gmail.com] Sent: 06 May 2017 09:45 To: George Dodwell <George.Dodwell@footmanjames.co.uk> Subject: Re: 00-MORD59KC01 Open PrintManager Documents Hi Mr Morley, Thanks for your email. Unfortunately I don’t have the authority to agree that, despite it being brand new we would need a valuation to guarantee the value. This cannot be done by anyone who has worked on the vehicle themselves (i.e. Caterham). Though the Lotus 7 club will surely have someone qualified to fill you form in for you. Congratulations on the IVA and please ask me any questions. Kind regards,George

K7 VCT
Can recommend Guy also, as did mine for Footman James last year.
rockinroyston
Footman have been really good & were also the most cost effective of all the company's I went to. Some of the so called 'specialist insurers' were less than helpful! The valuation thing confused me tho, I could understand it if it was an old car or historical car but straight 'out of the packet 'I would have thought would be a formality. I'll give Guy a ring anyway!
ScottR400D
Seems very odd to me. When I built my car in '15 it was insured with Lloyd White. The valuation was what it cost me for the kit complete with options. They simply took my word for it.
simon_h
I think this is for agreed value, not just the estimated value that becomes whatever they deem market value to be if the worst happens.
rockinroyston
seemed odd to me too!
ScottR400D
If that's the case Simon, then why ask for an independent valuation? If the premium is based on an agreed value then one would assume they would take the owners estimate; its just an insured value.
