That's nice thanks - as a PCGB and TIPEC member (when I'm not doing L7C, Isetta and Ducati activities) - I will forward details of this car to my buddies in the Porsche community.  I run a 968 myself (which is essentially the face-lifted 944), ask him to drop me a line or mail me here and I'll give you my home email address for him to get in touch.

My '94 968Sport in factory Riviera Blue by comparison large_MJStears968Sport800x600_0.jpg.489b828fed0622d2c74a12a05984abc0.jpg

I came from the air-cooled 993 world, sold that in 2012 bought the 968 above in 2014 from a PCGB member and haven't looked back - I can vouch for these front-engined transaxle cars because its a Porsche I can actually work on myself (too many specialist tools needed for 911s and they are bloomin' awkward to get to anything on them), and because the gearbox is on the back axle with the fuel and battery, and the engine right up on the bulk head at the front - its as well balanced as the mid-engined Boxster Porsche replaced it with, but without the complexity of the 6cylinder boxer motor that is a pig to get to.

Also people don't realise how shocking the fuel consumption is on the air cooled 911s - I was getting 17mpg at best from my '96 C4S and more like 12mpg with 'spirited' driving - and at a time in 2011 when SuperU/L hit £1.50/Ltr briefly it had to go.  No such trouble with the red 944 above - it will have the 2.7 / 4-cyl and they are good for upto 35mpg on a run.  The 968 had the last generation of this block that they made 3.0 and fitted VVC head - works well (although unnecessarily complex head and valve gear compared to the 944, but if the belts and pulleys are changed at 80k miles its not a problem), but all the 924/944/968 engines are pretty strong, realiable and easy to work with.  Thanks for the posting - nice to see some Porsche content on here for a change - I like the older cars like this, and look forward to seeing more photos detail of the 944.
