Tillett Seat without the runner

I just wondered if I could lower my driving position by removing the seat runner under the Tillett seat?

Can it be directly bolted to the same points as the runner?  Are there any specific brackets required/available for this?

Lots of people have done this, but unfortunately the experiences and advice (including the need for spacers) are scattered across multiple threads.

On my Tillets, the base is curved down lower than the mounting points. I found 1 inch spacers were necessary to mount it on a flat surface, so it wasn't possible to lower it much more than on the runners

Thanks for that.  Reading some of the posts in the link suggested that I am unlikely to gain a great deal but changing it over.  

I might have a look at a bag seat as an alternative.
