Cookie Monster
My minno trailer jockey wheel is creating a hole/ indent in my concrete garage floor due to the weight with the car stored on it.If I cement the hole I would think it's likely the same will happen and it'll break up again. Is there a simple solution? Sim
Put the jockey wheel on a paving slab?Simon
SM25T
What soppy sort of concrete have you got there ?
Chris-
what sort of nose weights are you running then?surley it sholdnt be heavy enough to damage concrete. IIRK you should only have about 40-50Kg on the nose when towing, if you struggle to lift it onto the hook, its too heavy.get a tow hook measure thing off ebay so you can check its not too heavy. Cookie Monster
Soppy concrete? Thanks for your constructive feedback!I suspect its just not very thick as from memory its about 60kg nose weight - I can lift the hitch onto the car. I'll re-cement it and put a slab in place over it short term.
Member Jonathan Kay Posted March 28, 2017 Member Share Posted March 28, 2017 A piece of ply should do the job: would that be more convenient than a slab for any reason?Jonathan
robmar
If it is a twin axle, just pull the jockey wheel up whilst not in use....
Cookie Monster
Thanks for the suggestions.Having looked at it, it's on a joint so I think the weight has just eroded the joint as it's a weak point.
simon_h
6 inch square of 3 or 4mm steel sheet should stop it doing that.
SM25T
I stand by my comment. Be careful if you lift a car on a jack in the garage if the concrete is that thin.
bosshogg
Mix up some latex self levelling compound and fill the joint. It's tough stuff and really easy to lay as it's self levelling!
