David aka Blue7
I am trying (without any success), to get the paint code for my CSR 260, which is painted plasma blue. I have tried Darren Phillips, who recommended Martin Phipps but no reply from Martin at CC other than out of office and no response to a pm here. I am having the wheels sprayed plasma blue and black and the work is now held up because we don’t have the paint code. Would anyone happen to know what the paint code is?When the the car was built in Sept 2015, I asked for the paint code and was told that it was 7016M but no one seems to recognise that code and it certainly doesn’t appear in a Google search. The Plasma blue paint is I think pearlescent and costs extra on the order form. It seems to be used on Subaru Cars and Kawasaki motorbikes but I don’t know which paint Caterham used?Maybe my pm to Martin didn't get through so hopefully he may see this post?David
Member Jonathan Kay Posted February 17, 2017 Member Share Posted February 17, 2017 Finding these does seem to be a recurrent problem. Two other recommended lines of attack are "Talk to Tony at Arch" and "Ask the painter to match" rather than trying to do it through the paint code.Good luckJonathan
John Vine
A quick google threw up F9T (for Subaru). Could that be it?JV
elie boone
I tought that code was from a motorcycle and guess what http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kawasaki-Touch-Up-Brush-Paint-7016M-CANDY-PLASMA-BLUE-2-Bottle-System-/142046228322 Beware this a a 3 layer system and your 1st colour coat is important in the final result, less important on a wheel obvious
Titanium7
Thought it might be a RAL number but it throws up Anthracite Grey not a Blue
Leadership Team MartinPhipps Posted February 17, 2017 Leadership Team Share Posted February 17, 2017 Hi David,In case my PM did not get through, I found your file in the archive after you have me your chassis number, but it does not show the code for the paint - described as Caterham Plasma Blue Pearlescent. I passed this info to Darren when I was in on Tuesday & hopefully he will be able to identify the code & advise.Martin
David aka Blue7
Thanks to all for your advice. The Subaru plasma blue looks darker than the colour of my paint and the Kawasaki colour is probably the closest match and Elie's link is certainly very useful because it does at least confirm the paint code I was supplied with when I bought the car. However, I did Google that code but didn't get a suitable result so good to have it confirmed in that link Thanks for the update Martin. The company I am using is The Wheel Specialist, based in Aberdeen. I am taking the car in today because they say they can probably match the paint from the extensive range of samples that they have. Thanks again for all the repliesDavid
elie boone
If they use a 2 coat system rather than a 3 coat system it will be cheaper but the color will be different. The advantage is that the wheel is a distance from the rear wing and therefore you can get away with a larger colour difference.
