Dannyboy
Does anyone have one sitting in a dusty corner of the garage? Mine appears to have a hairline fracture so looking to replace rather than weld. Not sure if it makes any difference - but to fit a NON VVC K-series engined car with distributor ie EU2. Wrightpayne
I would have thought the ladder / head were machined as a pair so one from another engine may or may not fit.Hopefully an expert will be along soon to advise.RegardsIan
revilla
Yes Ian that was my understanding too. At the factory the head and ladder were bolted together as an assembly, bolted down to a torque plate and the cam journals were then line bored through the whole assembly. This resulted in accurately round journals but possibly not aligned exactly with the head to ladder joint (not to the accuracy required for bearing journal clearances anyway). So you really shouldn't mix and match one head with the ladder from another. Same goes for blocks and crank ladders. They are manufactured as matched pairs and should only be used with their matched twin. Just as for con rods etc.
