TomB
And they've got LED units for the 5.75 inch smaller headlamps which Ive not seen before. The 7 inch ones are more common as they are Ladn Rover Defender fit amongnst others, but these are the first smaller lamps Ive seen.https://www.genssiled.com/index.php/product/genssi-5-75-5-34-in-led-projector-headlight-round-dot-v2-chrome/
Roger Ford
The links in posts 1 and 3 are for 5 3/4 inch ones. Does the place you found ship to the UK?Answer: Yes they do. $20 per light (not per order). Still have to pay VAT and any duty, plus collection fees. vertew
Ref above link by TomB -- I have tried a set of lamps that appear similar (ref here). They looked as if they would fit my 5.75" housings, but I never got round to trying as the units didn't have a sidelight/DRL feature (sidelight is an MOT requirement I think). In the end, I went with a set that had a DRL.So, worth checking if a sidelight / DRL is important to you.
Member Jonathan Kay Posted June 27, 2017 Member Share Posted June 27, 2017 Checklist: Not dipping the wrong way. (I think the Genssis are up-down). Appropriate regulation mark (if you care). Sidelights (as vertew says)... but has anyone ever explored whether wiring the dipped beams as "front position lights" causes any regulatory problems? MOT documentation, including the 2016 changes for headlights. Can anyone explain what the following means in this context:"Daytime running lamps are not testable unless they replace the front position lamps. Where this is the case, they should dim when the position lamps are switched on and may extinguish when the headlamps are switched on."Jonathan
vertew
Hi Jonathan, just spent a few minutes puzzling over the MOT guidance.'Position lamps' seem to be sidelights. So my interpretation of the text is: (a) DRLs are testable if they are acting as sidelights. (b) In normal daytime operation, they would be operating (lit) © When sidelight switch is operated, the DRLs should dim [erm, what?] (d) When headlamp switch is activated, they may extinguish. No idea why DRLs (acting as replacing sidelights) should dim when sidelight is activated - seems properly daft. For my installation, I've got the DRL feature acting as true sidelights. Eg. they are off when headlight switch is off. They come on when switch is in 'sidelight' position. They stay on when switch is moved to 'headlight' position (and obviously the dip beam comes on too).In the MoT manual (Front and Rear Position Lamps), there seems to be nothing specific in 'method of inspection' or 'reason for rejection' which suggests that my setup would fail.Guess, I'll find out in September !tks, Andrew.
