Red Line Components
I am replacing my ancient Halfords rivet gun prior to fixing dash and internal panels. Any recommendations for powered options, I don't have a compressor so I am considering an electric Sealey CP312.
Molecular--Bob
You could probably get a cheap air riveter and a compressor for around the same price, but the upside would be that you can add more air tools as you need them. I am doing a polished body on mine an have an air polisher/sander that is so much lighter than its powered equivalent. I also have a stubby air ratchet that is great for jobs around the car. Ian Mackenzie
If access is ok, a lazy riveter is great, done 100s of rivets with mine....

Dave Hardcastle
I recently purchased one from SGS, very pleased with it. They are on sale at the moment as well, here's the link;http://www.sgs-engineering.com/air-compressors/semi-pro-diy/sc50h-50-litre-high-flow-air-compressorDave

Member Jonathan Kay Posted March 21 Member Share Posted March 21 NB date. Any recommendations for a manual rivet gun? Swivel head. Steel as well as aluminium rivets. Thanks Jonathan
JP
Sadly, I don't have a recommendation for a swivel head manual one, but what I would be interested in is if anyone knows of a gun that comes with a nose that is narrow enough to fit into a popper base for when riveting popper bases to the car. So far I've had to use an M3 nut over the rivet pin, which works but is fiddly and not ideal.

You've got the nut/washer trick, IIRC someone ground the nose down, and here's a report that the Stanley works: And that's currently my front-runner. pgm
Hi Chris.. Andy has a brilliant Milwaukee battery operated rivet gun. It hasn't any kick back so no fear of scratching panels. Have a chat with him next time you are on phone. Best wishes Colin
