Mrp
Please can anyone explain the difference between the trackday rollbar and the trackday sloping for metric chassis. My 2009 car has a standard bar.Thank youMrp
Delbert
Is it that one has a single diagonal and the other has a cross brace ? The more diagonals the stronger the bar / cage also is one supplied with a petty strut which makes it an FIA compliant roll bar ?o
Mrp
Sorry Delbert no I worked that bit out. It was really the sloped bit that seems to be significant, which I hoped someone would know about. Thanks anyway.Mrp
Paul 160
Just a guess but could the sloping rollbar be the tall trackday rollbar mentioned in the March 2016 Lowflying and the Getting to Know Your 7 guides? With its height in the side profile of it fitted to the car the slope does look much more pronounced.Paul.
Member Jonathan Kay Posted October 16, 2016 Member Share Posted October 16, 2016 Have you got photos (from the Caterham site or elsewhere) of the two of interest? IIRC the last time this was discussed it transpired that the naming wasn't consistent...Jonathan
Wrightpayne
My single diagonal imperial FIA bar slopes forwards from its base to over the occupants heads. Possibly that??Ian

Member Jonathan Kay Posted October 16, 2016 Member Share Posted October 16, 2016 If you don't get the answer here there's now an "Ask an Expert" button on the Caterham Parts page... it would be good to know if it works.Jonathan

Adam Godfrey
Old thread resurrection!I'm going through the same process as Mrp and want to change my standard roll bar for a trackday one.Does anyone know the difference between the standard and sloping versions? Leadership Team Mcalvert Posted January 28, 2021 Leadership Team Share Posted January 28, 2021 Hi Adam - I believe this article may provide some of the answers, http://lowflying.lotus7.club/2016/2016_03_05_Rollbars.pdf but I'm not sure I understand what you mean by the "standard" and "sloping" versions. As far as I know (setting aside the "tall" versions") the trackday bars are only available in single and double diagonal versions. The former were designed for the imperial (Arch) chassis, while the latter were a later design for the metric chassis.
Mrp
Hi AdamSorry for the late reply, I found that only one trackday roll bar was available for the metric chassis. The others choices were for older imperial cars.Kind regardsIan
john milner
Both are listed as metric on the website. The sloping bar image looks to me as though the bar would lean forwards but the trackday bar looks vertical. If correct I would guess that trackday bar is easier to live with day to day in terms of getting in the car and using a hood but the slopping version should have a race ready FIA number stamped on it and slightly better protection.https://caterhamparts.co.uk/track-day-bars/3502-roll-bar-fia-sloping-de-dion-lh-a-rhd.htmlhttps://caterhamparts.co.uk/track-day-bars/2898-roll-over-bar-kit-de-dion-trackday-metric-chassis.html
