Chris W Posted February 13, 2003 Share Posted February 13, 2003 If I wanted to fit a vacuum gauge, could someone give me advice please as to the best place to tap the inlet manifold (plus any warnings about where not to tap!!). Peter Carmichael Posted February 13, 2003 Share Posted February 13, 2003 The standard 1.8 K uses vacuum to sense the throttle opening. There is already a vacuum hose leading from the plenum side of the throttle body. You can use this by teeing off to your gauge, but it does beg the question... ... why on earth would you want to do this? Just idle curiosity, y'understand. Extra weight! 😳 Never heard of a K-series having valve problems other than uprated Ks (that skimped and used OE valves) dropping the heads in which case a vacuum gauge will not be required to tell you something is wrong. Didn't valve problems disappear when engines stopped using leaded fuel... Now if you were dry sumped and you wanted to monitor crankcase pressure then I might understand it...
