Richard Anderson
I've been having problems with the R500K clutch slipping as I don't think it can handle the extra torque of a 1.9 (~170lb/ft).Currently I have this cover fitted : AP Racing CP3748-6But, when I look at the spec for this it seems it can only take 136lb/ft of torque. LinkI've been referred to a old crossflow cover plate and a paddle type pressure plate, which should work in a 1.9K, but, I don't have part numbers. Can anyone help?Cheers,Rich. nickh7
Not sure that will work because the k series clutch is a hybrid of rover and ford fittings. Not sure if it's different on a 6 speed . I know someone 1.9k and that manages with an AP clutch . I am sure an expert will be along soon
Mankee
Hello Richard. My 1.9K runs the "normal" AP Racing cover and drive plate with seemingly no slip issues. Ks and Crossflows share the same clutches. I was going to go down the Helix paddle route but the new engine came with the AP clutch, which seems to be taking a decent amount of abuse so far.http://www.helix-autosport.com/products/performance-clutches/caterham/http://www.performanceclutch.co.uk/p0/16ltr-k-series-eng/232529.htm
Support Team Shaun_E Posted September 8, 2016 Support Team Share Posted September 8, 2016 Hi Rich - I'm using the R500 AP cover with a 4 paddle sprung centre ceremetallic clutch plate. No slipping but it is a bit binary in operation! I can get you the part numbers next week. The plate is quite aggressive so wears the cover quite quickly meaning it's a regular service item. I'm reckoning on changing it each year. The alternative is to get a full race multi plate clutch but they are mega bucks.
