Rear ARB Rubbing against Tyre?

cskip

Recommended Posts

Just noticed that the Rear ARB Drop Link is "rubbing" a grove in the inside tyre wall.  It is more pronounced on the passenger side.  The car is a VX HPC with 8.5 inch SLR wheels on the rear.  Appears to be happening on both ZZR and ZZS tyres.

I have checked the recommendation from this link.  My drop links are already on the inside of the ARB, so that the nut is on the outside of the ARB (closest to the tyre).

The ARB is on the softest setting.  Interestingly the inside of the droplink is also rubbing on the body work of the inside of the rear wing.  This is just cosmetic.  The rubbing on the tyre is very worrying.

What can I do?  Other than remove the ARB completely?

Hi Skip,

When I moved to 8.5 rears i decided to get ris of my ARB as it had been disconnected for a few years anyway. However i have noticed some minor wear marks on the powdercoating of the radius arms and i suspect that under certain conditions there is tyre wall contact!
