Luegonigel
Hi, due to a few irreperable stone chips in the windscreen, I'm having it replaced under the insurance. Are there any fasteners on the top of the scuttle to the screen or just the three screws on each side A frame?Any other tips for the man from Auto Windscreens?PS they were supposed to arrive today, the screen hadn't arrived with Auto Windscreens, Caterham couldn't find out whether they had one in stock due to computers being down!I'm just waiting for it to turn up and it be for an S3 instead of an SV or be alloy instead of black!"always look on the bright side...of life..de do de dah..etc. etc."
Member Jonathan Kay Posted August 23, 2016 Member Share Posted August 23, 2016 Just the ones to the stanchions.Found the wires in advance? Some tricks in the archives for getting the seal to lie nicely on the body. Some recent experiences of the glass being loose in the frame: have a good play before it's fitted.Jonathan
SM25T
I wouldn't trust a regular windscreen company ..... easy DIY fit. Make sure the rubber seal along the base is fitted the right way up .... so that the hollow is underneath ... against the scuttle. Have seen a few upside down ! SM25T
The seal is curved so there is a hollow. Just make sure this faces down on to the scuttle. It has a T section that fits in a groove in the frame surround. ..... don't try and slide it in from one end. Lay it along the length of the frame ... put one leg of the T in the groove ... then pop the other leg in with a credit card or paint scraper ..... a bit at a time.
