prs
As I've got a 1.6SS it has a dry foam filter, does anybody know the process for cleaning one of these, or is it a case of completely changing it. I used to have twin forties on a previous car and this is straightforward as you use a proper cleaning fluid.

V7 SLR
I can speak for the ITG type of foam filters. I guess other are the same... The foam of the filter itself is not the particle filter. It is the oil that you coat them in. You can wash the filter in warm soapy water, as long as you ensure you rinse all the soap off them, but you must re-oil them afterwards with the aerosol foam/oil. In practice, I've only done this once with one of mine. I'm not even sure how often it's supposed to be done.
