A_redstone
Updates Bought cigarette lighter volt meter ( which I accept may not be entirely accurate)today we went out and all was perfect, volts on idle 13volts driving 13.8volts driving with lights on and wipers 13.3volts with engine off 12.8 / 12.9 yet to check on actual battery volt gauge quite handy to have the volt gauge in dash to see what the current is ... andy
Member Jonathan Kay Posted August 7, 2016 Member Share Posted August 7, 2016 Could you add the voltage at 3,000 rpm and the minimum during cranking?Jonathan
A_redstone
Hello got my new voltage meter and it was very close to the one in the dash mot looked very similar at 14.28 at both 3000 and cranking ..... andy
Member Jonathan Kay Posted August 7, 2016 Member Share Posted August 7, 2016 I don't think there's anything wrong with the charging system. Are you going to change the battery?(If it's leaked I'd wash down the tray and everything below with lots of water, and scrub off any white crud. Some people like to use sodium bicarbonate to neutralise the acid, but I can't see the point.)14.28 V during cranking would be unusual... how quickly does that meter respond? Can't explain the erratic voltage that was seen, unless it was a bad connection that you've now fixed.Jonathan
