Balveniefan
Hi - 4 weeks into Caterham ownership and I did my first Auto Solo in it at the weekend. Massive fun! However, while sliding about a loud knocking sound developed in the steering rack. There is no play, just a clunking sound as you turn the steering wheel - suggests something wrong in the rack. Having rung every parts supplier in Low Flying nobody has a Standard Track rack on the shelf and Caterham have got none in stock....Anyone got a spare out there?p.s. very annoyed it has taken me this long to discover Caterhams. There is nothing else on 4 wheels which is so much fun. But I guess everyone on this forum know that!
SM25T
Try Sevens & Classics at Brands Hatch. They keep a lot of second hand parts. Phone 01474 871184

Tom_Arundel
Rare to have a breakageracks are fully serviceable/adjustable. Steering arm joints under gaiters do wearalso check column u.j., adjustable sliding joint and rack mounting clamps.have fun
Dave J
it would be quite rare for a rack to simply start clunking, get someone who knows caterhams to look at the entire steering system before you spend several hundred pounds .
