murph7355 Posted February 11, 2003 Share Posted February 11, 2003 Have used twin sock varieties. PiperX currently and the engine works fine and sounds nice. Only thing to watch on mine is the trumpet lips are very close together and quite sharp, so the filters can be a bugger to get on/off and have a tendency to rip. Jason Plato Posted February 12, 2003 Share Posted February 12, 2003 Its the principle of socks ....the air is disrupted around the belmouth entry . For longetivity I would plump for a "normal" filter and backplate , Such as an ItG JC 50 - either mounted on the ends of the trumpets or idealy 40mm down the trumpets , again to minimise distruption to flow . This will still fit under a std bonnet with no hole cut . So long as the trumpets are only the 90mm variety . Dave Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
