Area Representative Kingsley Young Posted July 3, 2016 Area Representative Share Posted July 3, 2016 Does anyone know if at any time Caterham did a recall on the Sigma 150 for re-mapping , I have read several threads about the bogging down of this unit at low speeds. Caterham have re mapped it more than once. Was it a re-call?Kingsley.
ChrisC
Don't think there was ever a recall. I think they where sorted via warranty work. Do you have a problem with bogging down? You can tell if you have a later map if the MAP sensor is connected to the throttle body, or open to air. The connection on the throttle body where the MAP sensor was connected should be bunged up if you have a later map. The last update was the quadrants which I think are harder to identify if you have the latest version.
Area Representative Kingsley Young Posted July 3, 2016 Author Area Representative Share Posted July 3, 2016 Yes Chris there is an issue. The car I have bought is an 09 car only covered less than 1000mls but has never been sorted! This car is as new, and is a fantastic car just need to sort it to get the best from her. Luke Stevens has been attending to it for me this week, and it turned out that the TSC was wired round the wrong way ,as were several at that time !! The car is now running allot better but when cold it really does not like it. Once warm it is pretty good, but could be better. This is still the old set up with the Vacuum pipe still attached to both inlet manifold and ECU. Luke has said it should be re-mapped. But as I said in the question at the start was it a recall or is it sort it out yourself like most things have to be with Caterham!!Kingsley
Domus
Built my 150 in 2010. Caterham disconnected the vac pipe at the post build check and installed a new map.The car never ran smooth, it popped and banged, pinked and bogged down. I bit the bullet and went down to Essex to see the Two Steves. I recommend them 100%.http://www.tracknroad.com

ChrisC
The two Steves are the original developers of the map, and can do a custom job for you. But there is no need to feel it needs it. Every one that was a passenger in my 150 was surprised by its smooth character, one comment said it ran smoother than a 140 he had hired from Caterham. You need the new map that's for sure, you can get that from Caterham or I know of at least one local specialist in Kent that can flash your ECU with that. You also need to find yourself one of these http://www.caterhamparts.co.uk/product.php?id_product=3834 or is it a pair, not sure because I sold the car now. Then get the TB's balanced and the TP set, and see how it drives. If you still want the custom map after that you will have at least go the car to the best it can be before for you start that process.
martyn
What does the Drive Quadrant thing do Chris?
ChrisC
One of the complaints is the throttle is too sensitive, especially when trying to drive slowly, it's supposed to prevent a kangaroo effect, caused by your foot being pulled of the pedal as the car starts to accelerate, hence closing the throttle. It does lengthen the pedal travel needed to reach full throttle, which i guess is the only down side to the revised quadrants. It was the last modification to the 150, but by the time it was out Caterham had already created a lot of unhappy customers, and the 140 kit was just around the corner in 2011. martyn
Thanks, thats interesting. I've always thought my car has a particularly long pedal travel. Can't imagine it getting any longer so I suppose this may already be fitted.

I have phoned on 6 other occasions to be told every time someone WILL ring you back. Last call was Friday, Still waiting. Will probably have to talk to the two Steves.
