ALEVS7
Is it not kit built cars before 2000 are visual smoke test only?
John Vine
You can tell by looking at your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). To quote the DVSA doc mentioned by JK above:"Where the 10th digit of the VIN is equal to or less than 'W' and the 6th digit is 'C' or 'K', the vehicle concerned should be considered as 'amateur built' and as such should receive a visual smoke test only."Your 1995 car should have a 10th digit of "S" (which is less than "W" - 1998), so it all hinges on your 6th.There's an explanation of chassis numbers here.JV
