stuart147
Help needed. I have just purchased two new horns from fleabay to replace the feeble ones that are on the car. The old ones have only one connector on each of them with a twin wire going to one horn and a single wire going to the other one. The new horns have both got two connectors. How do they need to be wired? Thanks in advanceStuart
Member Jonathan Kay Posted June 22, 2016 Member Share Posted June 22, 2016 What colours are the existing wires on the car? That might make it easy with the help of the "standard" wiring colours. But if not: Have you got the wiring diagram for your 7? If not I can probably send you one. Have you got a multimeter?Jonathan
SM25T
Sounds like the original ones earthed through the body of each horn so just had positive feed. The new ones need a positive and ground to each horn ... possibly plastic bodies.
stuart147
Hi JonathonThanks for the quick reply. Thankfully nothing that technical though.Ian, you were spot on. Cheap plastic bodies that needed earthing and now operating perfectly. Thanks again for replyingStuart
Roadsport06
Earth one connector from each horn. I earthed under the horn bracket.
TomB
That's right, as the horns are plastic you need to put in a short earth. The original metal horns earth though the body.
