prs
How re-useable is the Cam cover and sump gasket on a K Series? Is it feasible to refit these using something like Hylomar Blue sealant. phil
Roger King
The cam cover gasket is very often reuseable, depending on condition. It must not be replaced with sealant because it also serves as a baffle between the oil and the breathers.
oilyhands
They are a laminated construction and quite re-usable. Provided the black outer layer isnt damaged along the sealing area of the gasket then you can re-assemble dry and you should be fine. If the inner metal layer is visible anywhere along the seal lines then replace the gasket. Make sure the gasket is perfectly aligned with its original position and is clean.
