myothercarsa2cv
Some years ago, Martin kindly organised a bulk buy of these amazing little shift lights. After my 7 was written off, I had no need for mine any more and sold it on. Now I want one again (but for my hairdresser's car). If we get to 29 I'll make it 30 by getting 2 and putting it on the 2CV. Anyway, DRE have said we can get another deal on a bulk buy, I still need to confirm that they will allow us to specify what lights we want (they did last time) and also whether it's ok for everyone to just call up and pay if I let them know who's in, but for now, if you'd like one put your name down here and I'll take it from there. I've got 5 others already interested, so we're already up to a tenner off. They are super easy to install on a newish 7 with standard gauges, I managed it! I wrote about it here. A search will reveal lots of information as well.Details:SLD5 Sequential shift light system 1 to 4 units at £79.95 each 5 to 14 units at £69.95 each 15 to 29 units at £65.00 each 30+ off at £60.00 each If ordering over 5 units, they will not charge for carriage provided all the units are going to one address, if sent directly to the customer, then the postage will be £2.10 1st class signed for service. The way I browse the forums shows new posts in Bulk Buys, but I still think you're right.Jonathan
myothercarsa2cv
Thanks guys. No bites on a previously ridiculously popular bulk buy was a bit odd so off to TT I went.Anyway, Mucus72, you're in, I'll be back with details about payment etc. once I've confirmed numbers and closed the bulk buy. Probably end of next week.

TomB
I got one of these on the original bulk buy, and its still in service some 40000 miles later. A great bit of kit, and well worth the cost. Easy to programme, reasonably easy to install. My only minor gripe that is the thin wires they use are hard work to connect in to the larger spade terminals and connectors I have under the dash. I think I ended up stripping more insulation off then folding the bare wires around to make a fatter wire so it would fit the spade terminals. myothercarsa2cv
I agree Tom, the wires are a bit skinny. I chopped the tacho wires and rejoined them and poked the DRE wires in with the tacho wire, so less of an issue with the crimping. Next time I think I'll splice in a proper three way connector, with tacho wires going to one side and DRE the other. That way it's fully reversable with not much effort. Dr Slotter
I'll take one too. I could also potentially pick them up to help with the distribution.
john milner
As an extra gadget I'm very tempted but can't think of any reason why I actually need one and may quickly find one irritating. Are they of use to someone who does not go on a track or use the street as a track?
myothercarsa2cv
Thanks for the kind offer, Dr Slotter. I'll put you down and will let you know if we need your help with postage.
myothercarsa2cv
Hi John, in all honesty... Probably not much use to you. I had mine set up to come on about 5k rpm, and hit the red at 7k, so quite a broad band that suited me. I liked having the lights flash in the corner of my eye to tell me what I'm doing, but that's me.
john milner
Thanks. It was the flashing in the corner of my eye that sounded good in the short term and a pain long term. I was hoping there was a benefit that I hadn't thought of. I'll think about it but probably no.
