W2TKY
Went for a blat round Cheshire this morning, noticed straight away that when I flicked the switch for the "temp" that the gauge went back down to below zero, is it the sender? Or something else?Had the 7 for six months now and it definitely worked before.Regards Mark
Jonathan Kay
Water and oil temperature on the same traditional gauge with a switch to select? Gauge working normally for water temperature? What model of 7? Inspect and wiggle all the wires and connections. Test the continuity through the switch with a multimeter. Select oil temperature and short the lead that goes to the sender to earth: what does the gauge do?Jonathan
SM25T
Wire broken or dead sender. Senders do fail regularly. Same as water one. Easy to change.

revilla
You mean you've had the same sender in for the whole six months you've owned it?
The_ASH
Presumably this is a car with an Apollo tank and the sender located on the side of the tank, it's worth checking that there is continuity between the tank body and earth as its not bonded via a wire connection to the chassis just the jubilee clips and base bracket, just occasionally I've seen a poor tank earth. It probably isn't that but it's worth checking.
