John Vine
Hi Angus,Glad the notes helped. Yes, P/N 1217470 is a FINIS code. Raceline sent me a tube with the new sump, but I guess you can get the stuff from a Ford dealer or ebay.Good luck with the fix.JV
John Vine
Update time....I've just collected the repaired sump from the man recommended by Raceline (Paul Fox of Foxcraft Engineering, Stockbridge, Hampshire). IMO, he's done a brilliant job -- but don't take my word for it, judge for yourself from these photos:The work included tapping a new hole for one of the timing cover bolts. And you can just see the outline of the fillet he had to insert (above the hole).JV
Member Jonathan Kay Posted October 28, 2016 Member Share Posted October 28, 2016 Did he trace the block to get those holes right?Jonathan
John Vine
There was only the one hole to drill and tap, and AFAIK he used a former of some sort, based (I imagine) on the standard Duratec timing cover. The aim was to ensure the dimensions of the sump weren't affected by the heat.JV
Member Jonathan Kay Posted October 28, 2016 Member Share Posted October 28, 2016 Ah... the original crack didn't affect the position of the bolt holes?Jonathan
John Vine
No, fortunately. The crack went right through one hole and vertically down the fin to the base (it's just about discernible in the photo in post #7). JV
