Manstein
I'm in the process of removing a cracked screen. I've removed the 4 countersunk screws at the bottom corners but the screen is still firmly attached to the upper surround presumably the rubber seal doesn't want to let go. Any tips for extracting the glass gratefully received.Thanks.
Member Jonathan Kay Posted March 8, 2016 Member Share Posted March 8, 2016 Haven't done it myself (yet) and can't remember if there's a trick, but there's a recent post on the subject. Let us know if you can't find it.Jonathan
Manstein
Thanks Jonathan I've trawled the forum and theres plenty of information with regard to reassembling but not found anything pertinent to the opposite. I'll do another search.
Area Representative Nick Chan Posted March 8, 2016 Area Representative Share Posted March 8, 2016 If you have removed the trim at the bottom of the screen, you should be left with the U shaped surround around the rest of the screen and its rubber seal. Its simply pushed into place and came off my screen with very little effort. There may be a few wooden dowels in there too that act as spacers when the screen is back in its surroundHTHNick
Manstein
Nick my screen isn't quite as cooperative as yours! I have an extra pair of hands available tomorrow so will try some 'persuasion' in the morning!
