Cookie Monster
Are these mandatory/a legal/MOT requirement?I understand the road safety benefits they provide but looking at this months LF there appears to be plenty of 7's without them fitted. Member Jonathan Kay Posted February 10, 2016 Member Share Posted February 10, 2016 It depends on the age of the vehicle (and whether it's used at night!).MoT Inspection Manual, section 1.4.Jonathan
NickRob
Don't have any on my 2009 car and it's never been questioned. Nick
Ian B
Depends on how friendly your MOT tester is. I've not had any for over 10 years.I understand the requirement is to be able to see the indicator when standing 1m off from the rear wheel of the car. In the past others have suggested twisting the main indicator pod outwards so it is visible from the position as well as straight on.
nickh7
It is an MOT requirement , my local MOT station is 7 friendly (he owned one and now has an S4 Elan) but he insists. Fit them in the headlight bowls I did using these http://www.carbuildersolutions.com/uk/micro-28mm-led-side-repeaters-clear-lens-amber-light-pairyou can see them here https://www.flickr.com/photos/93374062@N02/21497776629/in/dateposted/
JNC
This is what I did to my old car, it's ok if you have no battery cut of switch and easy to wire.
