yankeedoodoo
Has anyone out there put a drain plug in the bottom of their 6 speed trans. Is this a really BAD idea? If not, where might I put it? Thanks for any suggestions offered.
Miraz
There is a drain plug fitted to the 6 speed transmissions anyway...at least there is on mine, and it doesn't look like a retrofit.
F355GTS
Yep definitely a drain plug on my 6 speed too, lower left hand side IIRC Mark
Paul Bowden
Yes there is a drain plug fitted as standard, but it is on the side of the box and a complete nightmare to get to when the box is in the car. Also the oil is not going to drain out.Don't know the answer to fitting one in the bottom. You would need to use the excisting one to re fill anyway, but I can see the point....It would frighten me to death drilling a hole in that lovely bit of kit I have just re read and engaged Brain(bit early for me)...Is there a drain plug as well as the filler I was refering to? Miraz
There is a drain plug in addition to the filler...
captain chaos
Paul, Have you actually looked under the car on both sides yet the drain plug is clearly visible on the bottom, left side of the box. The plug used for refilling is the bugger to get to. Some manage to take the top cover off the G/box, I fitted a hose which leads back to the tunnel near the gearbox and makes putting new oil in alot easier.
