Brian Deacon
Finish refitting the diff, bled the brakes, adjusted the brake and clutch pedals. All going fine until I tried to start her for a run. Starter jammed in, took several minutes to undo the battery terminal and burnt fingers in the process. The pre engage solenoid appears to be sticking. Suspect there is no easy fix, but buy a new starter?
Member Jonathan Kay Posted January 16, 2016 Member Share Posted January 16, 2016 You can get starters overhauled for less than the price of a new one, and lots of Members have been happy with that.Is it sticking now it's off the car? Have you checked the starter ring on the flywheel isn't damaged? Jonathan
Brian Deacon
Working ok now. Only seems to stick when the battery is really low. Will see how it goes. If it fails again then overhaul sounds good.
Member Jonathan Kay Posted January 16, 2016 Member Share Posted January 16, 2016 I'd measure the battery voltage while cranking...Jonathan
Nigel Riches
The solenoid is available as a replacement part, if it turns out to be stuffed. Nigel
