Superwhite R283 Posted January 7, 2016 Share Posted January 7, 2016 I'm not sure what to call it, its the black powdercoated part that starts off in the engine bay parallel to the bulk head, the column enters it at this point and the part carries on to the bottom dash crossmember (where the QR wheel then attaches), anyway, i intend to remove it as im having a number of items powdercoated and its on the list (corrosion and a few re paints on the part in the engine bay). Removal looks straight forward but just checking im not missing something.... remove steering column, remove two bolts that bolt down by the bulkhead and remove the steering lock/ignition part? Member Jonathan Kay Posted January 7, 2016 Member Share Posted January 7, 2016 It's called the "steering column lock tube" in the Assembly Guide.This post suggests they are "breakable bolts".
