CharlesElliott
Both my lower wishbone bearings need replacing but one of them has the upright is stuck in it. Everything is off the car but I cannot get them apart. Tried a ball joint splitter, both fork and lever type. Lever type sort of gets hold but off line so not very effective. Fork type has too narrow a slow to go over the bearing. Also tried smacking it with a hammer Any suggestions, or is it going to be scrap?
SM25T
Have you removed the Circlip in the cup ?? If so, try a ball joint breaker after soaking in PlusGas, or apply a hot and quick bit of heat to the outside.
Roger Ford
Got mine off with a lever type splitter. Can lend you that, or otherwise I've got a pile of narrow track wishbones which are no longer useful to me.Edit: But not uprights!
CharlesElliott
At this point I'm trying to get the upright off the wishbone, rather than the bearing out of the wishbone. Thanks Roger, will speak to you about borrowing it.

CharlesElliott
Bugger, I didn't have the nut on the end of the upright properly and now I've damaged the thread a bit.Is it 1/2" UNF?Charles
F355GTS
It's much much easier off the car, take the whole corner off and do it on the bench
SM25T
Yes indeed .... otherwise the force is absorbed by the suspension !
Grubbster
I believe Charles has it off the car so the correct answer is 'use a bigger hammer' I believe.

CharlesElliott
Heat and a big hammer got it out. But the upright is bent.
