Mr Locust
As I haven't got as far as putting the engine in yet (bell housing problem - sore point) I have been tatting about with various bits to create the illusion of progress. Heres a noddy question that has probably been asked before but.......... Does your installation run the pipes tight to the block and through the alternator belt run (cringe) or outside the alternator?

mav
They have to run through the belt. They are not long enough otherwise. Just make sure you take your time and ensure the pipes are tied out of the way. It is possible to change the alt belt afterwards WITHOUT removing any oil hoses etc. also remember to take sufficient off the block to allow clearance neat the elbows on the sandwich plate. It will then fit nice and square and should not leak 😬
KenEvans
Through it - just on top of the alternator bracket. The pipes will probably want to touch the bracket so slit a rubber hose lengthways and slip it over the top of it to make a nice comfy seat for them. F355GTS
Worth fitting a spare belt round the pipes, and cable tie to whatever, should the original fail (saves much aggro!) Mark
mav
Mark, There is no real agro in changing the belt. Simply undo the jubilee clip at the top of the apollo, and the breather pipe from the top, and once the alt. has been slackened off the old belt can be slipped off and a new one slipped on. About 15 mins work, after I had to do this last year.
