Sinbad
With the demise of Caterham Midlands and the absence of any suitable local servicing agents I am thinking of carrying out some basic servicing routines on my vehicle.I haven't even changed the engine oil on a vehicle for a couple of decades so this will be a learning experience for me.Could anyone tell me if there is a servicing checklist for my vehicle and any general tips to get me started. My car is a 2009, factory built, Roadsport 125 powered by a Ford Sigma engine.Any advice appreciated. Member Jonathan Kay Posted October 25, 2015 Member Share Posted October 25, 2015 Shaun's servicing schedule.Do you have an Assembly Guide already? If not would you like one?Club "Get to Know Your 7" articles, and Myles' maintenance pages.Got enough tools? (As if that were possible.) And a garage? Then I'd suggest a "Get to Know Your 7" session.Jonathan
Sinbad
Hi Jonathan,Thanks for your reply. The links you have referenced look very useful.I have a garage and a few tools, and looking to purchase a trolley jack, axle stands and a torque wrench to begin with.I haven't got an assembly guide so that would be useful.I would be particularly interested in things like torque wrench settings for wheel nuts and spark plugs for my specific vehicle. Member Jonathan Kay Posted October 25, 2015 Member Share Posted October 25, 2015 The torque settings are in the Guide. Send me a private mail with your email address. Some trolley jacks won't go low enough: check the archives or tell us what you're considering.Have you found the Club discounts... includes Halfords.Jonathan

SM25T
Machine Mart for Clarke low entry lightweight aluminium trolley jack.
Martin J
Halfords do a good value troley jack not as pricey as the aluminium low entry one.I just roll the car onto a couple of 1/2 inch thick pieces of wood & that lifts the car enough to get the jack under. You will need a low level container to catch oil from the sump. I use the bottom from the hamster cage & is ideal. RIP Acorn.

Token Jock
Nick Potter in Lubenham nr Market Harborough is an excellent option and not far from Caterham Midlands.Nick certainly knows his way round a 7 having been at Caterham Midlands for many years.John
Sinbad
Hi John,Yes, I did consider this, but Caterham Midlands was already far enough away from where I live (Halesowen) so I think I will have a dabble with the DIY servicing and consider Nick if I run into trouble or for more problematic items such as a cambelt change. DJ.
I service my Road sport 125, and I have made a service checklist and a table with torque settings. I can email copies to you, but you'll have to install Libreofficce to read them (it is free ). Duncan

Sinbad
Thanks for the suggestion Roadsport06.I actually live fairly close to Russ and meet up with him once a month. He has someone who does his servicing, but again it's a bit further a field than I would like to go.I should be seeing Russ this week so I will discuss it further with him then.
