Metal polishing

Recommended Posts

I want to get my primaries and exhaust polished over the winter .

Do I just take it to a metal polisher and ask them to buff it up or is there some trick to getting a high gloss smooth surface that's easier to keep shiney ?

The exhaust on my old car was easy to keep tip top with an occasional hand polish . The 2014 version has a grain in the surface that tarnishes easily .

I did wonder about getting it plated ??

Stands back and waits  for all the abuse directed at "polishers" !!

Mark,

Before I wrapped my primaries, I took them to a local polisher (along with the cat, cat bypass and silencer).  They did a great job (not cheap at £120-odd), but the shine is still excellent even after 2100+ miles -- just a slight honey-coloured burnish.  I've not needed to polish them myself -- just the occasional wipe with a chamois suffices.
