WindyMiller
I've managed to acquire a spare bonnet and want to paint it up for a foriegn trip this summer. Does anyone know of a source of Caterham "red" or am I going to have to go to them for it? Is it an off the shelf colour? Apologies if this has been asked before! Nick Woods
Windy, I've been told that the Caterham red is specially mixed to match the red GRP gelcoat that Caterham use for the wings and nosecone (rather than the GRP matching the paint ). Ford Radiant Red is supposed to be a fairly close match but I think that the only place you'll get the proper colour is Caterham. Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted January 31, 2003 Leadership Team Share Posted January 31, 2003 Contact TSK directly, who do the painting for Caterham - they should be able to do a pukka job as cheap as anyone else. The closest match I've had in "off the shelf" paint is "Toyota Super Red" - available as a touch-up at halfords, or if having an aerosol made up at a specialist ther are 3 different shades to allow for the weathering of the old paint. I think the middle of the 3 was the closest 🤔 Wouldn't attempt to do a bonnet with an aerosol though. Stu.

Leadership Team Mcalvert Posted February 2, 2003 Leadership Team Share Posted February 2, 2003 Apparently, there are lots of "Post office" reds. I had a can mixed for me at a local motor factors, which is pretty much perfect on my car. The "formula" was apparently: TB40 - 61.0 11-65.3 54-82.4 59-101.7 No ideal what it means, but it did the job! Michael.
