caterhamnut
Fitted apollo tank a while back - no problems, slighly lower oil pressure when idling, but 'normal' according to others here. Noticed recently that during 'extended' idling - ie: London traffic the oil pressure seems to sit a bit lower than before - just above the red line in fact. Blips up as soon as engine is blipped. Can anything cause a SLIGHT drop in oil pressure? Is something wearing? Am I being paranoid? Is Mobile 1 just really runny?! Is a slight increase in oil usage a sign - or does my high mileage just use more oil? On a similar note, I have always checked my oil level with engine running and hot, as it says on a sticker on the cambelt cover. This is correct? ta 😬32,000 miles in 15 months! angus@tinyworld.co.uk Caterham pics here
mav
increased temp will cause a loss in pressure as the oil becomes thinner. Noticed this mainly on the track though. Not too worried as it seems about 3.5 bar running on track is ok too
Nifty
I've never had a satisfactory answer to explain why my oil pressure dropped by o.5 bar after an oil change. Never had before or after??
TomB
Nifty, mine did that too! I think mine is a touch low, but it is consistently low. Knowing the senders are unreliable, I treat it with a pinch of salt. If it suddenly dropped off the gauge altogther, then I would worry!! I should get round to replacing the sender. Peter Carmichael
Chances are it is a dodgy sender, Angus.
